Supported Training

Ideal for young people wanting to gain skills and experience in working with horses and helping others.

The Programme

  • 2.5 hours per week
  • Receive guidance and training from our experienced team
  • 1:1 mentoring available if needed from an experienced volunteer
  • 30 minute group riding session (or shorter¬†1:1 mechanical horse session)
  • Receive certificates and badges to show knowledge and understanding in horse care

Skills and Experience

  • How to work safely around horses
  • How to support disabled people in a range of equine activities
  • The parts of the horse and commonly used tack
  • Different horse colours and markings
  • How to prepare a horse for exercise by grooming and tacking up
  • The basic needs of a horse and how to care for them
  • Team work, responsibility and using own initiative

Booking details:
£50 per session, payable in advance in six week blocks Initial taster session free of charge (does not include riding)
