Saputo Dairy UK support purchase of Theo

As the Cavalier Centre grows in popularity, it needed to buy a new horse. Saputo Dairy UK, whose Innovation Centre is located in nearby Edgmond, were eager to support us and the result was Theo!

As a producer of healthy and nutritious food brands, including Cathedral City cheese and Clover spread, Saputo takes great pride in promoting healthy lifestyles in its local communities and the Cavalier Centre fitted the bill perfectly.

During November the Cavalier Centre hit 100 rider mark! This fantastic achievement was celebrated by the team and marked the need for a new steed!

As many of you know it takes a special kind of horse to become a Riding For the Disabled pony. Theo came to the Cavalier Centre on a trial and his kind, laid back temperament meant that he fitted in straight away. He’s unfazed by the mechanical lift, quiet when being groomed and a lover of big the big hugs that riders, staff, volunteers regularly give out!

As 2019 draws to an end and we reflect on our first 9 months in operation, we set about planning for 2020. One of our priorities is to have a selection of horses over 14hh to support the development of our younger riders (as they insist on growing!) and also our adult riders. We aim to have our highest number of entries for the 2020 RDA National Championship, making the dream of entering a competition a reality – this wouldn’t be possible without the right horses in place.

The Cavalier Centre runs purely on donations and our aims wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of businesses like Saputo. We look forward to sharing Theo’s journey with you. Thank you!
