Steps combines fun classroom based activities and online learning with hands on experience with horses, volunteers and the Cavalier Centre team. This transformative experience has already helped many people by giving them a new found sense of confidence to step into new challenges and discover future opportunities.
The Steps Programme is composed of an Initial Induction, seven weekly themed sessions and a final Celebration Event with optional horse riding lesson to mark completion (weight restrictions may apply). Over the eight-week programme we can cover a range of different topics:-
- Confidence Building
- Health and Wellbeing
- Horse Care
- Self Awareness
- Social Skills – Supporting others and working in very small groups, interacting with Volunteers, Staff and RDA Riders
- Online learning – Gain Qualifications in Horse Care Proficiency Tests and Equine Knowledge through RDA
Eligibility
- Must be over 18 years old and above (no upper age limit)
- Must attend an Initial Induction to assess suitability
- Must be able to attend on a regular slot on either a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday afternoon

- The Programme is free and funded by Reaching Communities – Community Fund
- Course materials – free
- Clothing – We will provide hats and gloves to wear free of charge. However, it is recommended the individual purchase suitable footwear such as boots, wellies or sturdy shoes
