Steps in the Right Direction

A 6 week Confidence Building and Employability Programme with an Equine Twist. Aimed at people who are not in Education, Training or Employment for 2.5 hours per week.

The Steps in the Right Direction 6 Week Programme aims to give participants who are currently not in education, employment or training the skills and confidence to go into further education, training, volunteering or employment.  The Programme is free and funded by Landau. Over eight weeks (half a day a week) participants will undertake practical tasks working with the horses, volunteers and riders to gain employability related skills and improved confidence.

  • Stable and Field Management
  • Confidence Building
  • Self Awareness
  • Employability Skills – CV Building, Interview Skills, Job Applications
  • Communication – Working with others in very small groups, interacting with Volunteers, Staff and Riders
  • Qualification – Equine Knowledge through RDA

Celebration Event – Opportunity to have a riding lesson with qualified instructor (weight restrictions may apply)


  • Must be over 16 years old and above (no upper age limit)
  • Must be able to provide either a passport or birth certificate before Induction to the programme
  • Not in any kind of education or employment ,proof of unemployment, eg – UC Evidence, Job Centre letter


  • The Programme is free and funded by Landau
  • Course materials – free
  • Clothing – We will provide hats and gloves to wear free of charge. However, it is recommended the individual purchase suitable footwear such as boots, wellies or sturdy shoes
