  • Leadership – Proven management skills to lead a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers with enthusiasm and clarity.
  • Organisation – Capable of juggling multiple responsibilities, from scheduling and feeding plans to vet visits and volunteer timetabling.
  • Passion – A deep care for animal welfare, and a belief in the impact that horses can have on human lives.
  • Team Player – Friendly, collaborative, and resilient with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the equine team to deliver excellent care, training and welfare for our horses and ponies.
  • Manage all daily yard operations including feeding, exercise plans, grazing, shelter and stable management.
  • Coordinate vet, farrier, physiotherapy and other appointments.
  • Develop and support a vibrant volunteer programme, including coaching, training and mentoring.
  • Ensure compliance with RDA, BHS and local authority standards.
  • Contribute to the wider vision and strategic development of the Cavalier Centre.

Person Specification (Essential Highlights)

  • BHS Stage 3 (Stage 4 desirable) or equivalent experience
  • Experienced rider with strong stable management background
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organisation, time management and IT skills
  • A genuine commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and additional needs
  • Flexible, reliable, and passionate about high welfare standards

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a unique, life-changing organisation that makes a real difference every day.
  • Work alongside a supportive and passionate team.
  • Take pride in shaping the future of a nationally recognised centre of excellence.
  • Opportunities for training, development and progression.
